Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach talks about HIV/AIDS awareness

Pia Wurtzbach, winner of the Miss Universe 2015, is the third Filipina to win the title after 42 years. Prior to winning the coveted title, it took her three tries before she won the Ms. Binibining Pilipinas.

Pia was greeted by her supporters and friends at her homecoming press conference on 24 January 2016 in Manila, Philippines where she sat between Binibining Pilipinas Chairperson Stella Araneta and Miss Universe Organization President Paula Shugart.

Pia became emotional when she spoke about her sending off party and how she wanted to have this homecoming press conference.

She answered questions from reporters regarding her journey leading to her win last 20 December 2015 in Las Vegas, her hopes and dreams, and her goal to become a Bond girl after her reign.

She also discussed the mishap on coronation night when pageant host Steve Harvey announced the wrong winner.

Pia said that she sticks to all of her answers. For instance, she elaborated on why she sees no problem regarding American presence in the Philippines.
Pia also answered questions about the HIV/AIDS epidemic that is now happening in her country.
According to Love Yourself Inc., since 2006, the number of cases have risen and faster. At Love Yourself clinic in Mandaluyong, Philippines, it offers HIV testing, counseling, and activities.
Later this year, Pia will take an HIV testing in New York City and will get involved in HIV/AIDS activities.

Prior to her win, Wurtzbach was in showbiz and in modeling. She is of Filipino and German ancestry.
