The Cat Street Gallery – Back to the Future exhibition

The Cat Street Gallery is a contemporary art gallery that is part of Hong Kong’s major art establishments that include M+ West Kowloon Art District, the Central Police Station and PMQ Married Police Quarters in and around Hollywood Road, Central.

Today, The Cat Street Gallery in collaboration with China Art Projects are showcasing “Back to the Future” Phase 2 exhibition where 18 Hong Kong artists delve in issues such as where does Hong Kong positions itself in the now thriving art and cultural world of an emergent Asia both at present time and in the future. Moreover, will it ignore its past histories and leap-forward towards a fast-paced future?

This exhibition is inspired by the movie “Back to the Future” that sparked a worldwide phenomenon and created a huge following. Time travel remains a universal popular theme where the invited 18 contemporary Hong Kong artists strive to address questions whether it be identity, colonialism, and of future identity.
